Overview

The Rehabilitation Technician performs activities essential to promoting the comfort, mobility and independence of residents.  This position provides support to the licensed professionals to enable them to effective perform their duties.  This position will be under the direct supervision of a licensed physical therapist when performing the following duties:

Gait practice and ambulation

Functional activities (ADL’s)

Transfers for physical therapy

Routine follow-up of specific physical therapy exercises

Hot or cold packs

Whirlpool

Contrast baths

Paraffin baths

Developmental stimulation

 

***Salary Range $16.38-$21.93/HR***

Responsibilities

Clinical Functions:

  1. Performs all duties within scope of job function as identified in the job description.
  2. Does NOT perform evaluations or screens.
  3. Transports residents to and from therapy timely minimizing the resident/patient waiting time.
  4. Assists residents in preparation for treatment based on needs of the resident/patient and the specific modality and treatment.
  5. Assists licensed therapists (Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist or Speech Pathologist) with resident evaluations, as instructed.
  6. Assists licensed therapists (Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist or Speech Pathologist) with treatment programs designed for each resident, as instructed.
  7. Removes and/or applies assistive devices and supportive devices as directed by licensed therapists (Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, COTA or Speech Pathologist).
  8. Assists with the restorative programs in the facility as directed by the Rehab Director in collaboration with the Director of Nursing.

 

Team Member:

  1. Abides by the standards identified in FutureCare’s Statement of Corporate Ethics and the Corporate Compliance Plan.
  2. Works with Rehab Director to arrange daily treatment schedule for patients and therapists that promotes an effective and efficient functioning for both the patients and the therapy department.
  3. Maintains department records, as directed.
  4. Assures there is an adequate supply of forms in the units, including forms for patient documentation and for therapists’ administrative functions.
  5. Assures there are sufficient supplies for all modalities in providing of daily treatments.
  6. Maintains inventories and orders equipment, as required.
  7. Attends meetings and in-service sessions, as directed to assure safe performance of the duties assigned to this position.
  8. Adheres to facility policies and procedures and participates in quality improvement and safety programs.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Minimum of high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  2. Experience preferred in the care and treatment of patients in a healthcare setting.
  3. Must have a GNA license.

Ability to understand and follow the directions of licensed professionals
