Overview

At FutureCare our Occupational Therapist are a part of the interdiscplinary team who provide support and information to our residents in need of rehabilitation therapy.  Under the direction of the Rehap Director the Occupational Therapist use sound judgement and provide adequate care in the performance of trerapeutic procedures while using assistive devices intended to maximize functional potentials in all areas of the residen's life.

***Salary Range $40.94- $61.03/HR***

 

Salary Disclosure Statement

The salary mentioned above reflects the potential base pay range for this role. Bonuses or other incentives (if applicable) are offered separately. Offers will consider such factors as overall experience, job-related qualifications, location, certifications/training, etc.

Responsibilities

Clinical Management:

  1. Reviews available resident information and evaluates the impact of this information on the assessment and treatment process.
  2. Conducts and documents a thorough functional assessment of the resident, utilizing standardized procedures.  Assessment of home/vocational and equipment needs is included.
  3. Develops and implements an individualized treatment plan based on resident needs and containing achievable functional goals.
  4. Complies with evaluation, treatment and documentation guidelines as defined by facility policy, practice regulations and state/federal regulations.
  5. Completes appropriate documentation in the resident’s medical record following each treatment session.
  6. Revised treatment plans, as needed, throughout the treatment process.
  7. Documents the course of treatment in a clear, concise discharge summary, utilizing a prescribed format.
  8. Instructs Assistants in treatment procedures to be utilized and provides appropriate supervision while such staffs are working with residents.
  9. Orients residents to program services and treatment procedures appropriate to their needs.  Informs patients of any potential risk during any procedure.
  10. Works with nursing staff, resident and families to maximize resident’s use of functional abilities.
  11. Establishes and instructs resident and family/other caregiver in exercises and therapeutic procedures to be continued following discharged.
  12. Assists in the referral process when a resident requires additional services following discharge.  Maintains current knowledge of community resources.

 

Team Member:

  1. May supervise the following:
    1. Other licensed occupational therapists;
    2. Licensed occupational therapy assistants;
    3. Occupational therapy aides; and
    4. Occupational therapy students.
    5. Attends and participates in other department/facility meetings, as required.

3. Participates in the quality improvement process by responding appropriately to results of medical record audits, patient/referral source satisfaction surveys, safety activities, and regulatory requirements.

 

4. Acts in compliance with regulatory and professional standards and guidelines.

 

5. Provides input to the Rehab Director or supervisor on clinical performance of Assistants and Aides as requested and appropriate.

 

6. Attends and participates in rehabilitation team conferences regarding resident progress, problem or needs.

 

7. Promotes the programs and services of the nursing facility through formal and informal interactions with the community.

 

8. Adheres to facility policies and procedures and participates in facility quality improvement and safety programs.

 

9. Abides by the standards identified in FutureCare’s Statement of Corporate Ethics and the Corporate Compliance Plan.

 

10. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Professional Growth

1. Accesses continuing education opportunities appropriate to discipline and responsibilities in order to maintain clinical currency.

 

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  2. Current license/certification in the State of Maryland.
  3. A minimum of one year experience in a long-term care setting.
  4. Certification and demonstrated competency in identified areas of specialization.
  5. Demonstrated ability to assess resident needs and develop and implement a comprehensive plan of care.  Demonstrated knowledge of accreditation standards and compliance requirements.
