Overview

At FutureCare our Clinical Education Specialist work in partnership/collaboration with our healthcare staff members to ensure they receive the proper skills and knowledge to provide care and support for our residents through FutureCare’s corporate compliance standards. They work independently under limited supervision to design, develop, implement, and evaluate education programs based on adult learning principles within the ANA professional development scope and standards of practice, Nurse Practice Act, and State & Federal Education Standards.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and support system wide educational programs and specialty-based initiatives
  • Provides corporate support for new employee orientation, employee health, and employee infection control
  • Assist trainee and mentee in identifying their learning needs to identify effective learning activities required to overcome challenges
  • Assist in coordinating and guiding clinical activities of nursing staff within a practice area 
  • Supports organizational and administrative structure to achieve corporate and organizational goals.
  • Facilitates and serves as a change agent for the initiation of, adoption of, and adaptation to change (policy, procedures, or regulatory).
  • Acts as a consultant regarding clinical and educational needs.
  • Assist with the integration of new learning into the practice or educational environment.
  • Utilize and integrate relevant research outcomes to incorporate best clinical practice
  • Seek to clarify and confirm the accuracy of employee understanding of unfamiliar or vague terms and instructions
  • Participate regularly in professional development activities

Qualifications

  • Must hold an active Registered Nurse license issued in the state of Maryland
  • Associate degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university required
  • Progressive experience working in an acute or long-term care setting preferred
  • 2+ years’ teaching experience required a plus but not required
  • 3+ years’ experience in clinical nursing
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support CPR Instructor experience required
  • Completion of “Train the Trainer” course a plus but not required
  • Ability to actively listen and demonstrate good verbal and written communication
  • Proven ability to effectively shares and receives information
  • Must be able to display a high level of creativity and teamwork
  • Basic Computer Skills (Microsoft office suite)
  • Specialty certification highly preferred
  • Must have flexibility with schedules to work varying shifts
