Responsibilities

It is the responsibility of the Director of Admissions to facilitate the admission of clients from the surrounding community, area hospitals, or other health care agencies to the facility. Maintain or exceed the budgeted census and patient mix. Verify financial assets, insurance coverage, i.e. Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance eligibility. Meet with families to discuss the services provided by the facility and the short and long term health-care needs of the resident. Design and implement a marketing plan which educates the community, healthcare agencies, discharge planners, social workers, physicians, etc. about the facility with the purpose of encouraging and expanding the referral base. The focus of the Director of Admissions efforts is predominately the adult geriatric population.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience in the healthcare and/or marketing field.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • The ability to work independently, as well as part of an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to relate appropriately to families, residents, physicians, referral sources, department heads, community and governmental agency representatives.
  • The ability to gather, manage, and verify confidential financial and health related information.
  • The ability to expand and maintain a solid patient referral base.
  • Excellent ability to market the services of the facility to the community.
