Overview

At FutureCare our Medical Records Coordinator plays a vital role as the administrator of resident medical records ensuring compliance with state and federal regulatory guidelines are met within our facilities. Reporting to the Director of Nursing, the Medical Records Coordinator performs a variety of clerical duties to safeguard all medical documents and maintains HIPPA compliance regarding any resident and agency records.

Salary Disclosure Statement

The salary mentioned above reflects the potential base pay range for this role. Bonuses or other incentives (if applicable) are offered separately. Offers will consider such factors as overall experience, job-related qualifications, location, certifications/training, etc.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Consistent maintenance of active and discharge medical records
  • Perform routing audits of medical records as required
  • Safeguards medical information against loss, destruction, or un-authorized use
  • Maintains system for retrieval of discharge medical records
  • Condense records on a regular basis according to thinning guidelines
  • Participates in data collection for the facility, including retrieval of clinical records as requested by Medicaid reviewers, State surveyors, and administrative requests for other studies
  • Assists in Performance Improvement functions as delegated
  • Communicates pertinent information through established channels

Qualifications

 

  • High school graduate or equivalent; Associate’s or more advanced degree preferred
  • At least one year experience in a health care setting; skilled nursing experience environment highly desirable
  • Must display qualities of patience, accuracy with details and dependability
  • Must possess a high level of organizational skills
  • Ability to meet physical demands: stooping, bending, lifting, pulling and pushing
